Suburban League/Williamsport (12A) Process

Suburban League 12A and Williamsport Team:

The CYBSA has entered one 12 year old team into the Suburban league for this summer. This will be a 12 "A" team. However, there will not be a formal tryout for positions on this team. Players will be selected based on our Williamsport selection process. See explanation below.

The 12A team that plays in the Suburban league will also be, for the most part, the same as the Cohasset Williamsport team. The Williamsport team consists of 11 and 12 year old players that are voted onto this team. The Williamsport team is not selected based on "tryout" results, but rather based on total votes received from the current major league head coaches. This process will determine the top nine players named to the team; with the remaining players (2-3) selected by the Head coach of the team as "coach's choice". Now, some players on the Williamsport may end up being 11 year old kids, depending on how the votes come out. When the kids shift from playing in the Williamsport tournament to the Suburban league team, the 11 yr olds will be assigned to the 11A team and the 12 yr olds will go to the 12A team. 12 yr old players that received votes for the Williamsport team but did not receive enough to make the top nine slots and were not selected as one of the "coach's choice", will be drafted onto the 12A team (to fill the spots of the exiting 11 yr olds). These players will be added to the 12A team based on total votes received until a full roster is achieved. In the event of a tie, coaches will revote.

Suburban league play starts later than the Williamsport Tournament and participating in both programs typically do not conflict (unless the Williamsport team advances into later playoff rounds). In addition, Williamsport rosters must be announced by June 15th and our voting timeline is such that we will be prepared to announce Suburban league teams shortly thereafter.
