Suburban League Selection Process
Ages 9,10,11
Tuesday, June 14th - Barnes Field - 3:30-5:30pm
The CYBSA will be conducting tryouts for players interested in participating in the summer travel program on Sunday, June 12th from 9:00am till Noon at Barnes field.
Travel teams will be formed for three age groups; 9, 10, and 11 year olds. We are planning on fielding both A and B teams at the 9 and 10 age level and one team at the 11 age level; however player turnout at the tryouts will determine if there are enough players to field two teams at each age group.
Important information and requirements for Summer Travel teams:
1) Registration fee of $100 per player is due at the tryout prior to participating in the tryout. This fee covers the player participation for the summer season. A registration booth will be set up at the field.
2) All fees are non-refundable. In the event that your child does not get selected for the team he/she wishes to make (i.e., A vs. B team) we expect that the player will join the team that he/she has qualified for based on the tryout results. In the event that there are only enough players to field one team at any age group, and cuts are required, fees for those player unable to secure a position on the a team will be refunded.
3) Players will be selected for teams based on a combined score from tryout results and regular season coach evaluations. Player assignments are final.
4) Participation in the travel program requires a serious commitment. Interested players must be able to make 75% of the scheduled games.
5) Coaches will meet shortly after the tryouts (on the weekend) and players will be informed of the results by the end of the following week.
6) If you child cannot make the tryout due to injury, you must notify the CYBSA in advance, (info@cybsa.net) The injured player will receive a tryout score of double their coach evaluation. With the preceding exception, any child who does not try out but still wishes to play in the summer will not be eligible for A team selection.
The Summer program is an excellent opportunity to play fun, competitive baseball against neighboring towns and programs. The program provides outstanding developmental opportunities for the players but does require a serious commitment to participate in practices and games.
If you are interested in the program - see you on the 14th!
