Friendship League (8 yr olds) Selection Process
Summer Travel Baseball Sign-up for 8 year olds
Saturday, June 5th - Barnes Field - 12:00 to 2:00 PM
The CYBSA will be conducting in-person sign-ups for players interested in participating in the 8 year old summer travel program on Thursday June 5th from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Barnes field. Two equally skilled travel teams will be formed for the 8 year old group. The coaches and coordinators will ensure that both teams are of equal skill level.
Important information and requirements for all Summer Travel teams:
1) Registration fee of $100 per player is due at the time of sign-up. This fee covers the player participation for the summer season. Fee will be collected by the evaluation coordinator on the day of the sign-ups.
2) We have registered two teams at this age group and believe that there will be enough interested players to field two teams.
3) Players will be placed on teams based on parity. The 8 year old will play in the Friendship league (a great program) where town submitting more than one team are required to make sure that these teams are of equal talent. No "A", "B" team format allowed.
4) Participation in the travel program requires a serious commitment. Interested players must be able to make 75% of the scheduled games.
5) All 8 year old coaches who may be interested in coaching the travel team, or are available to assist in evaluating the players, are asked to respond to this email acknowledging their interest.
6) Coaches will meet shortly after the registration (on the weekend) and players will be informed of the results by the end of the following week.
The Summer program is an excellent opportunity to play fun, competitive baseball against neighboring towns and programs. The program provides outstanding developmental opportunities for the players but does require a serious commitment to participate in practices and games.
