Thunder vs Rattlers, October 16th, 2008
The Thunder had their best day in the field this week, but the play of the Rattlers was too much to overcome. A stellar double play started by Ryan Conforti catching a fly ball in the 1st and relaying home, was the start of improved fielding by the team. Another notable play was a nice relay from Ben Bernsee in Right Field to second base to cut down the runner from taking two bases at the start of the 2nd Inning. Also noteworthy were two fine throws to keep the Rattlers from scoring from third base by Jake Allen (4th Inning) and Sam Decaprio (5th Inning). Jake also had the best day at the plate and was the lone Thunder batter to have a 4 for 4 day in addition to a hard to come by RBI.
Thunder vs Muck Dogs, October 11th, 2008
The infield play of Bradley Albanese relaying to the catcher two times to deny the Muck Dogs’ potent offense extra runs was the highlight of the Thunder’s defense. The Thunder’s bats came to life again to put up 7 runs in the last two innings for the come- from-behind win. George Grech and Gavin Dunkelberger were the stars on the hitting side. Gavin had the Thunder’s first triple of the year and followed that up with a double to post 3 RBIs. George’s incredible 4 for 5 day (all doubles), was punctuated in a do-or-die last at bat with two outs, and drove in the winning run for his 5th RBI of the game.
Thunder Vs Mudcats, October 4th, 2008
The week off due to rain seemed to make the Thunder a bit rusty at the beginning. The Mud Cats came out looking good and strong and had the Thunder down 7-1 before the Thunder’s bats came alive. We had two 4 for 4 days at the plate by Sam DeCaprio and Ryan Conforti, and Sam put up 3 RBI’s for a solid hitting day. Starting in the third inning the fielding play improved greatly starting with a nice catch at by George Grech at shortstop and the team limited the Mud Cats to just two runs over the last 4 innings.
