Summer Baseball

CYBSA has entered teams into the Suburban League which offers competitive games at venues closely located to Cohasset (less travel). Team will be formed in the follwoing age groups: 9s, 10s, 11s and 12s. CYBSA also enters 8 year old teams in an independent league (the Friendship League). The 8 year old team or teams are assembled through an open evaluation process. The 9 through 11 year old A and B teams are selected through a tryout and Spring coach evaluation process. The 12A team is selected following announcement of Cohasset's Williamsport team.

The Summer Travel season runs from approximately the end of June through the first week of August. The CYBSA requests that you do not register your child if due to vacation they will miss a substantial portion of the season. Announcements regarding registration for the summer season will be made in late Spring.

Age Eligibility for Summer Travel Baseball - Clarification

Many of you have asked about age eligibility for Summer ball. Basically, the Suburban League (9-12 yr olds) and Friendship League (8 yr olds) have the same cut off date to determine age eligibility.

Players must not be more than the specific league age (8, 9, 10, 11, 12) as of 5/1/09.

Williamsport eligibility for 12 and 13/14 year old teams must comply with Little League age eligibility which is age as of 4/30/09.

So, players should basically assume they are eligible for summer teams at the same age level as they played in during the spring season.
